Getting back onto the podficcing horse with lovely sequal to Strange Bedfellows,  "Three Strikes and You're Out".     Sooooo much fun with all of Ezra's big words   (although, if I never encounter the word "precipitately" in a fic again, I will be happy.  :) )

Announcement posts:

It seems to be a "thing" to make pages for one's podfic in AO3.  Considering that because I do love AO3, and it's been cool having all my fic in one place, so why not podfic too?    But then, it seems weird to create a whole "work" whose only purpose is to link to something off-site.   Dunno.

Logging the latest h/c bingo card. I failed to do even a little amnesty snippet in the last round, but I figured I'd give it one more shot.

(Apologies to folks seeing this twice - I'll get the hang of this cross-posting thing eventually. :P )

This is probably one of several Mag7 moments that'll be included... it's hard to pick just one. :)  But let's start with an iconic one that never fails to have me falling in love with these boys all over again.

(It occured to me that I really ought to be cross-posting here for completeness sake.  No spoiler-formatting DW?  *is bummed and must edit my post instead of just copy/pasting :) )

So...  *drum roll*

Warning? Extremely Minor Spoilers from early in the book

As a point of order:  I'm thinking many of my favorites will involve spoilers in either the scene or as setup to the scene, so I'm going to plan on Cutting the main body of my posts and going with a simple header as above to start things off.)

Guh. Just watched Tiger & Bunny ep. 16, and *Wow* do I love this series.

This is *so* the sort of angstiness that pushes my buttons. Suffering in secret, friends knowing something's wrong in a vague sort of way but missing the bigger picture. The way things played out in this episode with Kotetsu struggling with private failures juxtaposed against Bunny's public triumphs... *_* Pure, undiluted fan-service. *_*

For reference on a [community profile] fic_promptly  prompt.   Can't find it on any sites I trust to link to otherwise.  I love this poem...  (And not just because the whole "sick tiger" concept with religious themes is soooo Ken Hidaka. :) )

Little Boy Sick

I am not God's little lamb
I am God's sick tiger.
And I prowl around at night
And what I most love I bite,
And upon the jungle grass I slink,
Snuff the aroma of my mental stink,
Taste the salt tang of tears upon the brink
Of my uncomfortable muzzle.
My tail my beautiful, my lovely tail,
Is warped.
My stripes are matted and my coat once sleek
Hangs rough and undistinguished on my bones,
O God I was so beautiful when I was well.
My heart, my lungs, my sinews and my reins
Consumed a solitary ecstasy,
And light and pride informed each artery.
Then I a temple, now a charnel house.
Then I a high hozannah, now a dirge.
Then I recompense of God's endeavour,
Now a reproach and earnest of lost toil.
Consider, Lord, a tiger's melancholy
And heed a minished tiger's muted moans,
For thou art sleek and shining bright
And I am weary.
Thy countenance is full of light
And mine is dreary.

Swooning over all the pretty in this icon batch, and I *so* need a Wild Wild West/Mag7 crossover now.

WWW isn't a show I go back to as often as I should, but lawdy, Robert Conrad is *such* a pretty man (though, character-wise, Artie was always my favorite, of course. :) )

I'm thinking Maude should be involved - she's good at bringing out the campier side of the Four Corners crew - and it starts out as a bit of a madcap farce with Ezra (and any others he ropes into helping) hiding Maude from the visiting feds because she accidentally-on-purpose conned someone she really shouldn't have.  And Jim and Artie are half-amused/half-exasperated as it starts to seem as if the whole town is giving them the runaround.  And then the *real* bad guys come along and there's gunshots and concussions and mayhem from there, of course.  :)

*nods*  Yup, someone needs to write that for me.  :)

*********************

In other news, I am so smitten by Tiger & Bunny these days.  Warm, fuzzy shippiness that seems like the most natural thing in the world for these characters.  Occasional trust issues.  A generous dollop of angst.  Single-father adorkableness.    Boys in bandages and other assorted fan services. A truly squishable ensemble cast.   *happy sigh*

I'm solidly shipping Kotetsu and Barnaby harder than I've actually *shipped* anyone in quite a while.  It occurred to me the other day that it may be clicking for me because it's kinda the same dynamic as Aya/Ken - the standoffish-but-not-entirely-frigid stoic type with a more emotional, go-with-his-gut cheerful type who may have issues, but is less likely to wear them on his sleeve.

Something I wonder about sometimes:  Why is there so little cross-fandom discussion or meta about hurt/comfort in fandom?

It's a genre (or whatever) that has a lot of fans, it tends to be a preference that follows a person from show to show, and I personally, at least, have a number of meta-y questions that I'd love to see thrown out to a diverse group of h/c fans for discussion.

And yet, the couple multifandom comms I've seen here on LJ fizzled pretty quickly or never got off the ground...  ( *sniffles sadly at [livejournal.com profile] theonesyoulove *  ) and the one comm on DW also has no traffic.  I always wonder if its an advertising problem (word didn't get around to a broad enough group of fans that the comms existed)  or if I'm just in the minority, and most fans really have no interest in discussing their tastes outside of a specific fandom environment, comparing notes on fandoms that lend themselves to h/c, etc.   It's a bit of a bummer, really.

[livejournal.com profile] tenshi_no_korin  wrote me a Suikoden story for the Help_Japan auction, and it is fabulous! :D

http://tenshi-no-korin.livejournal.com/261544.html

I adore Tenshi. :)  Here stories are filled with little details from the games (or that *feel* like they're from the games) that ground the story in canon in a way that can't be easy when you're working with a world where "canon" consists of some fairly low-end pixels... and her characterization for Viktor, Flik, and the rest of the Suikoden cast is soooo amazing. :)

OK, sorry to spam FLists, but there is one more thing I have to put up out of pure frivolity.   Looking over a website with anime-related figures (which are usually heavily weighted toward half-nekkid female figures, I come across this....)

I have been going through a phase of "not having my shit together" for... four (!) months now.  My LJ/DW-reading backlog is humongous, but I do have two things that I've needed to get posted for about ever now.

So, #1:  Podfic!  :)

Jojo's "Strange Bedfellows" is posted HERE.

Been having a bit of a Jonah month that's stopped me from following online-stuff much, but needed to pop in here and do a quick pimp for FX's new show, Terriers.  It's one of those shows that's so good it makes me ache until I vent a bit of love somewhere.   (Of course, it's also been getting horrific ratings, so it's a bittersweet sort of ache, but I'm gonna enjoy it while I can. )

In various pre-airing interviews, references came up a lot to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid... and while this show isn't a western, they definitely learned their lessons in how to create a wonderful partnership between the two main characters.

Long story short: Highly recommended.  :)

4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

My Netflix queue spit out the old Disney "Davy Crockett" series with Fess Parker and Buddy Ebsen, and I watched it over the weekend for a bit of nostalgia.

I now remember why this stuck with me enough to put it in the queue to begin with... it's got some lovely buddy-ship chemistry between Davy and Georgie, despite the rather gee-shucks corniness of the whole thing.  There's this bit where the two are walking through a forest and Georgie is singing the Davy Crockett song, and Davy has this sort of fond exasperation about it that just speaks volumes.  Makes me squee a smidge. *g*

I wants me some fic.

(It does feel a bit odd to be getting a squishy like this over *Buddy Ebsen*, though.  I mean, dude, it's Jed Clampett!  And Barnaby!  Barnaby, fer chrissakes!  I feel like I ought to be making a fandom!Secrets post or something.  ^_^)
