I did this once before, and it was fun, so:
1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.
tygermama gave me "N". My N-songs to choose from were somewhat slim, but fairly representative of my tastes (except there was no theater music worth sharing).
Napoleon - Ani DiFranco
Ani's often a little too political and/or shrill for me, but I do really love this song, in particular.
Nine Time Blue - Mike Nesmith (of The Monkees)
The song itself is a demo recording from a Monkees album, though I don't think the Monkees ever recorded it for real. It makes me wish Mike Nesmith had had a career in the singer-songwriter vein instead of the weird stuff he ended up doing post-Monkees. I love his voice in the simplicity of this. (Oh, and that spoken bit at the beginning - The only difference between me and Peter is that I'm just stoned legal - always makes me happy :) )
New Lang Syne (Thank God It's Over) - Jim's Big Ego
It's the wrong time of year for this, but oh well. ^_^ This song was written in 2001 for a fluffy NPR radio segment about "Auld Lang Syne" being the only real New Year's Eve song and that we ought to have a new one for a new century. Depending on how I'm feeling around the holidays, I find either fun and amusing, or strangely cathartic.
New James Bond - Eddie from Ohio
Just fun. I've always thought it would make a fun AMV for a show like... I dunno, Chuck, maybe.
Naci en Alamo - Yasmin Levy
From a world music kick I was on several years ago. I love this sort of heavy-on-the-driving-vocals, minimal instruments stuff. Especially when it's in a language I don't know, so I can just enjoy the roll of the sounds.
