Fannish Inventory

Just a quick inventory of shows, books, etc. that have hit me in a fannish way.  I tend to gravitate more toward individual characters rather than particular pairings, probably because I'm still very gen-oriented, especially in regards to live action fandoms, so pairings aren't quite as much of a deal.  Thus, in most cases, I'm listing my OTC, rather than an OTP.

I haven't spent too much time digging for stories in most of these, so I'm ending up rambling a bit on what I like/dislike/wish-I-could-find in what fic I *have* come across.

These are in brainstorming order, so completely random except that I probably thought of fandoms I like most earliest.

Weiss Kreuz
OTC: Ken Hidaka
OTP: Aya / Ken
Notes: Pretty much anything Ken-centric is fabulous. Aya/Ken owns my soul, and is still the only slash pairing in any fandom that I'm really committed to, but any Ken-pairing can work for me... except Ken/Sena is kinda squicky.  I'm particularly fond of Gluhen-era angst (Ken/Kyou is my crack-pairing of choice) and Side B-era Aya/Ken shippiness. I really *don't* have much interest in Schwarz on their own.

The Magnificent Seven
OTC: Ezra Standish
Notes:  Guh.  Everything, everything, EVERYTHING! I love the opportunity in this series for there to be genuine, believable conflict and misunderstanding between characters without pushing either side so far that they come off as utter assholes.  Also love how much scope there is for exploring different character dynamics just by dint of which of the Seven you have working together in the story.  Ezra being self-sacrificing is always a plus... especially when his motives are being misconstrued.  Prefer Old West fic (gen), but the various AU's keep surprising me with their awesomeness, so I've pretty much hit the point of being open to any of them.

Andromeda
OTC: Seamus Zelazny Harper
Notes:  I particularly enjoy Harper's dynamic with Tyr, Beka, Rommie, and Rhade.  Also rather keen on Tyr/Beka U.S.T. - possibly leading into a ship, if it was done in-character without any shmoopy romance.  Now that I think about it, Tyr/Beka in some sort of snarky, just-in-it-for-the-sex ship would might actually be kinda fun... :)

The Sentinel
OTC: N/A
Notes: TS was one of my first big fandoms, and though I've rather moved on, it was an amicable separation.  Blair used to be my OTC, and I still prefer him as the whomp-ee in h/c scenarios. But otherwise, I think I'm fonder of getting inside Jim's headspace and just generally exploring the boundaries of their relationship.

Fantastic Four / Marvel Comics
OTC:  Johnny Storm (Human Torch)
OTP:  Torch / Spiderman
Notes:  A new one for me.  I'm not sure what to do about shipping Torch/Spidey, considering it means Pete's cheating on M.J.  So, the two as a buddy pairing is also a winner.  Torch h/c appeals a lot, and isn't something I've seen done...  something related to the events of Civil War might be particularly interesting.

Suikoden
OTC: Flik
OTP: Viktor/Flik
Notes: Anything Suikoden 1-4 (plus Tactics)is awesome (I haven't played Suiko5 with a fannish eye yet).  There aren't any characters that really turn me off, and I love the world-building for this series with a passion, so although Flik is my favorite, I can be happy with pretty much any character or situation that's well-written and in-character.

Gabriel Knight
OTC: Gabriel
OTP: Gabe/Grace
Notes: Not too interested in GK2 werewolf slash, but most anything else is great.

One Piece
OTC: Sanji
OTP: Zoro / Sanji
Notes: I actually lean more gen buddy-ship on the ZoSan, or at least slash where the rivalry-cum-nakama-ship plays out.  Also rather like the idea of Sanji & Nami-centered nakamaship, though I don't see it done often.  Sanji h/c is always good.

Koko wa Greenwood
OTC: Hasukawa
Notes: I'm a huge fangirl of the canon interplay between Shinobu, Mitsuru, and Hasukawa,  so I'm always looking for more of the same in fanfic.  I also adore the dynamic between the Hasukawa brothers.  Kazuhiro in parental-big-brother mode makes me very, very happy. :)  My favorite moments in the manga are when Hasukawa punches Shinobu and when he is in the race at school and Kazuhiro's all smug about Suka's awesomeness.

Ile-Rien
OTC: Gerard or Illias
Notes: There is not one thing about this series that does not get me jazzed. You've got the obvious Tremaine/Illias and Giliead/Illias pairings (or maybe Tremaine/Illias/Giliead?)  But I'd be almost *more* happy with anything about any other characters.  I adore Nicholas and Gerard. (Gerard h/c ftw.)  Niles and Reynaude are both guys I'd love to see more of.  In just a few exchanges, Nicholas/Reynaude jumped off the page at me.  Especially with "Death of the Necromancer" adding some depth to things.  I even have a rather atypical desire to see something sweet/sappy/shippy between Florian and anyone (especially Arites or Arisilde). And that's just the tip of the iceberg. 

Supernatural
OTC: Dean
Notes: Very strictly gen on this one, and primarily interested in the boys as adults rather than childhood backstory.  Dean h/c with Sam in a "protector" role is my biggest love, though canon has overdosed me on angst a bit so something a little more straightforward without the guilt complexes might be nice.

Gankutsuou
OTC: Franz
OTP: Franz/Albert
Notes: Mostly prefer the angsty almost-one-sided UST that we get in canon.

Inu Yasha
OTC: Miroku
Notes: Frankly, the Miroku angst and the occasional flashes of Miroku/InuYasha buddy-ship are the only thing I get out of this series.  Every other character bores me... especially fangirl favorite Seshoumaru.

Ultima
OTC: N/A
Notes: I haven't really explored this as a fandom, but I love the *idea* of fic about the core companions - Iolo (& Gwenno), Shamino, Dupre, Mariah, etc.  I'd especially love something that captures the sense of melancholy that was always there in a new game when you arrived back in Britannia and everything had changed.

Fullmetal Alchemist
OTC: Ed
Notes: FMA is all about the Ed-angst for me.  Ed h/c would be nice, too.  Roy & Hughes also gets high marks, and can work as either humor or angst, or slashy, in a pinch.

Full Metal Panic
OTC: Sousuke or Kurtz
Notes: Sousuke had got to be the best angst-er in anime-dom. (Dean Winchester might give him a run for his money if we expanded to all of fandom. :) )  So, stories working with that are all kinds of awesome. I also have a major weakness for Kurtz-type characters: the apparent slacker who shifts to kick-ass hero at the drop of a hat. I'd love some buddy-fic of the two of them on a mission, perhaps with h/c on either side. :)

Pumpkin Scissors
OTC: Oreld
Notes: Another Kurtz-style character.  I'm not really fond of the focus on his womanizing element, and wish canon had given him more to do than that.  The little flashes of him being a valuable and skilled team member go so much further.

Highlander
OTC: Richie
Notes: All about the Duncan & Richie father-son/mentor-student relationship for me.  I know it's scandalous, but Methos bearly makes it onto my radar.

Stargate: SG-1
OTC: Daniel
Notes:  Pretty much prefer canon-level Jack & Daniel buddy-ship, but a bit more balanced on the ratio of friendship vs. empty snark than we got in Jack's later seasons.

Stargate: Atlantis
OTC: Rodney
Notes: Nothing in particular. I just love the dynamic of the cast in gen-mode... they're all so squishy and awesome.   *Really* don't get the appeal of most pairings in this series, including the McShep.

Kino no Tabi
OTC: Kino
OTP: Kino / Shizu
Notes: The important thing here is the tone.  Anything with a similar tone to the series is wonderful.

Melody of Oblivion
OTC: N/A
Notes: Rather light on fannish interests, here, but I love the surreal-yet-over-the-top world-building to the series and would like to see more in that vein.  Coco's three Aybar machines intrigue me (and are hawt).  Also hot: Horu (the minotaur monster who's Kurofune's nemesis.)

Chronicles of the Deryni
OTC: Sean Lord Derry  or  Ansel MacRorie, depending on what time period we're in.
Notes: Anything that expands on the "screentime" of Derry or Ansel is a thrill. 

DragonRiders of Pern
OTC: F'nor
Notes: Again, anything to give him more "screentime".  I've always been very dissatisfied with how F'nor gets barely more than lip-service after his big hero turn in book 2.

Hawaii Five-O
OTC: Danno
Notes: Kinda silly, I guess, but Steve & Danno are cool, and I love me some Danny & Kono buddyship vibes.

Enterprise
OTC: Trip
Notes: Trip h/c is my main interest.  Primarily with Archer, but I'd be curious to see how h/c would play out with T'Pol in the comforter role, too... their romance angle combined with Vulcan non-emotion might make for not-your-average h/c scenario.

Real Drive / RD Sennou Chosashitsu
OTC: Souta Aoi
OTP: Souta/Holon
Notes:  I love Souta so much.  He has just a touch of an angsty edge, but is also pretty bad-ass when he's doing his job.  Either aspect is made of win.  I also adore Holon, and her sort-of romance with Souta is one of the only times that a canon romance has ever turned me into a pile of goo.

Malazan Book of the Fallen
OTC: Fiddler
Notes:  No real coherent idea what kind of fic I'd like to see for this series, but my favorite characters/pairings are (roughly in order): Fiddler, Bottle, Quick Ben, Kalam, Cutter, Apsalar, Paran.  I love Fiddler/Quick Ben/Kalam's shared loss after the events of <i>Memories of Ice</i>, and I love Bottle as observer, that sense that he's keeping tabs on everything to keep himself out of trouble.

Terriers
OTC: Everyone
Notes:  This show.  Just...  I can't remember the last time I loved everything about a canon so unreservedly.
