From [info]tygermama:

Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile."
• I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity.
• Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
• Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

My questions/answers:

I ask everyone this; You're on a desert island, pick five books
The Forgotten Beasts of Eld - Patricia McKillip
Lyonesse - Jack Vance (The whole trilogy, if I can pretend there's a collected-works version ^_^ )
Transformation - Carol Berg (ditto)
Complete Works of Shakespeare (need something thick to work on)
And I'll steal the 3-ring binder o' fanfic idea, too. :)

(Which reminds me that I really ought to print out some fic. My binder only has about four stories in it.)

Favorite personal fanon fact about Blair?
Not sure if this counts, as Blair doesn't actually *know* about it, but... I wrote a little mini-fic many years ago that was my take on Blair's father, and it's probably the piece of personal fanon that is closest to my heart.

In my Sentinel-verse, Naomi knows exactly who Blair's father is. It was just a fling, and they parted ways before Naomi knew she was pregnant. When she looked him up years later, he'd gotten "respectable" and tried to pay her off to keep her from intruding into his life. Naomi never told Blair about this because she'd rather he "live his life without a father than knowing he had one who didn't want him".

Your favorite Mag7 story?
Oh, that's playing hardball!

If someone put a gun to my head to choose just one, I guess I'd have to go with J. Brooks' Cold Hard Cash. It's really just a *perfect* story for me. The wonderfully in-character tension and trust issues between Chris & Ezra over money, Chris being pissy and Ezra getting his revenge in little, irritating ways (and Buck running interference with both of them), conman!Ezra, heroic!Ezra, whumped!Ezra, worried!Chris, exasperated!Chris... wonderful humor while still being a serious, dramatic story. There's not a single sour note in the entire fic. *happy sigh*

Who do you think is the bigger 'obfuscator' Blair or Ezra?
Hmmmmm... my gut-instinct is to say Blair, though that *might* be because "obfuscate" is a Sentinel buzzword...

But yeah. I think in my fanon, when he's not running an actual con, I see Ezra as being mostly a straight-shooter with the rest of the Mag7 boys. I think he's more likely to simply refuse to answer a question or give a clearly evasive "I have no intention of answer that" sort of non-answer than to make something up. I'm not as in-tune with Blair's character these days, but I think his basic nature would be to be more casual and free-spirited about that sort of thing.

Do you like crossovers?
Depends on the crossover. I really *love* them when the story is driven by some sort of conflict or tension between the two sets of characters. It could be the two groups being at complete cross-purposes and working against each other, or just a situation where they have some sort of clash in personalities or trust issues to work through before they can mesh. If it's more of just a "oh, we happen to be old college roommates, so lets get our two teams together to share humorous anecdotes about each other"... that's not usually by cup of tea.
I guess it boils down to me preferring stories that have interesting interpersonal stuff going on between canon characters, rather than just one-big-happy-family vs. the bad-guys... whether it's a crossover or not.

Hee! The binder idea is proving to be very popular!

*hugs Naomi* that is a very cool fact. I like it. (I'm a real sucker for 'lost relative' fics, I'm not as picky about them as maybe I should be either!)

I'm going to check out "Cold Hard Cash", I may have read it but I am horrible for remembering fic names sometimes. I've loved everything by J. Brooks that I've read so far, "Fellow Travellers" (yes, it's a Little!Ezra fic, but I think it's one of the best ever written) and "Inkslingers" is one of my favourite crack fics for Mag7.

You have a good point there. As it was, when I wrote the question I was having an internal debate with myself whether to compare Ezra or Buck to Blair... Then of course you have to ask yourself, is Buck an obfuscator or a straight out bullshitter. :D Then you get into the semantics of the difference between obfuscation and bullshit. (and those can be fun too)

I am a complete crossover junkie. Almost everything I've written so far has become a crossover. Truthfully, when I try to write straight fic for one fandom, I get nervous (except NCIS for some reason). It's like I feel that one fandom fics are judged more seriously than crossovers...

I do agree though, a really good crossover is just as much about the two groups learning to work together as it is about them dealing with whatever situation they find themselves in.

Totally agree. And LOL over the proviso about "Fellow Travelers". That's one of the most insidious things about this fandom for me (in a good way). I came into the fandom being very not-interested in AU's of any kind... just wanted to read OW stuff. Then I sort of moseyed into ATF and other AU's, but stayed *far* away from Little Britches and other kidfic. And eventually that wall came down, too, and everything's suddenly fair game. :)

Oh, interesting. Yeah, I can kinda see more parallels with Buck, now that you mention it. Maybe not the obfuscating thing, so much as just their general easy-going nature, y'know?

I'd agree with that, to some extent. I think with crossovers, it can sometimes be as much about just satisfying curiosity about how different characters would click, so you might not always be looking for it to knock your socks off in other ways.
