So, totally missed my target on posting anything in March. ^_^ I shall count this anyway.
Fannish Viewing/Reading/Whatever
Dick Grayson and Friends: In what may be some sort of record, March was the month in which TPTB of my new, shiny fandom managed to take my squee-filled fangirl heart and RIP IT OUT AND STOMP ALL OVER IT, not once, but twice in the space of a couple weeks. First, they cancelled Young Justice, which, for a cartoon, was really pretty satisfying in terms of playing the long game with its plot and character development. OK, that's fine. But then DC went and killed off Damian Wayne, who was the most freakin' adorable little Jerkass Woobie imaginable, and an utterly wonderful addition to the whole bat-family... especially in terms of his relationship with Dick.
This being comics, I'm guessing he'll be back to life eventually, but with the whole once-a-month turnaround time, I'm wondering why I ever let myself get involved with this stuff. That snails-pace is gonna blow.
Nothing much to say about other shows. I'm still enjoying several, and am happy Game of Thrones and Dr. Who are back (though what I'd give for the old days when the Doctor's companions didn't all have to be modern-day-girls. Clara is great, but I'd love to see someone with something OTHER than a modern-day perspective, like we got with classic!Who. I hate that they assume they need such a direct audience stand-in. (And hate even more that they're probably right with 90% of the viewers out there. ^_^))
Miscellaneous
I'm quite pleased at the response to whumpable so far, I think? I'm... a bit nervous about what the "right" way to keep traffic up is without it seeming like my personal soapbox or something, with my name all over the top-level posts and replying to everyone, but not sure what the alternative would be.
My parents and I went to see a local community theater's production of Jesus Christ Superstar last Saturday (fitting for the season :) ). The show is one I've grown up with, and I've seen it many times, but this one was done in such a small space... the intimacy and creativity they had to go with for the staging was amazing. My dad's never been a very emotive sort of person, and he's been more distant and hard to connect with the year or two due to early stages of Parkinson's (or the drugs for it... I'm never sure which it is that's fogging him up), but at intermission and after, he had this big smile on his face and was actually talking about things he saw in the production that either hadn't been in prior productions we've seen, or that he hadn't noticed before on larger stages. I think it was the most enthusiastic I've seen him on ANY subject in literally YEARS (even before the Parkinson's). I think the fact that HE enjoyed it so much was more exciting for me than my own enjoyment.
