Sorry, I got a bit rambly, but it seemed silly to get into editing, noise reduction, etc. for a silly little meme. :)

That was fun! Your pppopppp filter seemed to work fine :) How exciting to have a new mic ... *wants*

Yes! I'm pretty happy with how the sound came out. :) I did some other trials with and without the pop filter, and it's pretty amazing how much difference it makes...

Woohoo! It really was fun listening to you. The sound was crystal clear, and now I'm interested in what kind of mic did you get, and what filter you used - is it for Audacity or some other program?

:) Yeah, I like this. It was fun to talk without spending umpteen years editing the way I do for text posts. :)

The mic I bought is this guy (http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Microphones-Snowball-Microphone-White/dp/B000EOPQ7E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1266846274&sr=8-1). I had an Amazon gift-card from Christmas that made the cost fairly reasonable, so I decided to splurge a little. :) The pop filter (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=pop+filter) is just a little screen that goes in front of the mic to disperse the air so you don't get blow-out noise. :)

(For completeness, I should mention that I also used a box like described in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CV5Rl-IK-eo). I bought some audio foam, but am just using a cardboard box I had handy for the outside of it.)

Ooo! Great sound! And the newscaster comment must be what one guy meant when he spoke to me over the telephone and said I had a "T.V." voice (at least on the telephone). It didn't sound like you had an accent to me either, or at least in comparison to what I hear every day.

These things really are fun! I'm glad you played along :)

Yeah, it is fun. :) I really like the more personal feel of voice versus text. I also just realized that one of the reasons why I have so much trouble with using too many ellipses and going off on parenthetical tangents when I type posts is because that's the way I *talk*, too. *grin*

It'd be fun to have a comm or actual social networking service where the posts and replies were primarily done with voice. I wonder how interactions would change.
