Posting as part of [livejournal.com profile] wip_amnesty weekend.

Fandom:  Andromeda
Untitled, Gen
Missing scene-ish for The Widening Gyre.

I think from the end that I was aiming for this to pursue some fix for Beka never really having any on-screen bonding moments with Harper during the magog larvae arc, but it didn't go.  I rather like the Tyr POV in this bit, though.

*******************************************************

Consciousness came slowly, clawing its way out of a black abyss of nightmares.  That, in itself, was enough to inform him that there was something wrong, and he made an effort to reconnect enough with his body to keep his breathing and heart rate steady as awareness gradually returned.

<Needs a bit more here about how he got unconscious>

He remembered the purple girl leaning over him...

“He’s awake.”

As if summoned by his thoughts of her, Trance Gemini spoke from somewhere to his left.  It was worth taking note of.  If the creature could read minds in addition to her other talents...but right now he had more pressing matters, for he had just realized that there were others in the room, and it was an unforgivable lapse to have missed such a potential threat before now. There was definitely something wrong.

To his right, a door opened. Confident footsteps approached...too confident, too close. Tyr could have reached out and killed the man without even opening his eyes. If the situation weren’t...what it was.

“Tyr?”

Dylan, of course. Coincidence that he’d arrived just as Tyr was waking? Or had the Andromeda informed him?  There were all too many prying eyes on this ship.

Trance Gemini came out from around the console she’d been monitoring to stand near the table he lay on.  “How are you feeling?”

“Terrible.” He told her, struggling to make his voice come out with strength behind it.  “What have you done to me?”

“She saved your life.” The acerbic reply came from Beka Valentine, still standing behind the console. “A ‘thank you’ would be nice.”

Tyr’s eyes flicked to Beka, then back to the purple girl.  What had happened?  They had been on the Eureka Maru coming from...

“The Magog.”  Disgust filling his voice.  Trance grimaced slightly in agreement.

“They infested you with their larvae, but don’t worry.  I got them out.”

“Impossible.”

“Gift horse, open wide.” Beka commented.

“It wasn’t exactly impossible...” Trance informed him. “Just really, really hard.  I think it helped that you’re a Nietzschean.”

“Really?” he drawled, amused. But then, a thought.  “The boy?”

The moment of silence after his question told him the answer.  Whatever the purple girl had done to remove the larvae from Tyr would not work on Harper.  Tyr surprised himself with a sharp pang of regret.  Had he bullied the boy into surviving this long, only to see his worst fears come true anyway?

“We’re...uh...still working on that, right Trance?” Dylan said.  Trance made an obvious effort to be perky.

“Right. Rev’s helping me, and we’re making really good progress.”

Tyr’s eyes were on Beka Valentine. All emotion had gone out of her face at the mention of Harper. She noticed him watching her.
