*pounding head on desk*
I've been waiting anxiously for popjapantravel.com to post the dates for their spring tours, because I was bound and determined to go on one of them in March/April. So, I notice that they're up, and they're all pretty theme specific. The "Gothic/Lolita" and the "Ultimate Ninja" tours are of no major interest, but the last one was: "Yaoi Bishonen and Boys Love" tour. *Blink* WHEEEE! Right up my alley! Sugoi, na?!?
Except.
My mom has been adamant that she wants to come with me on this trip. She doesn't like me to travel alone (even though this would be a tour) and besides which, it would be a chance for her to visit *JAPAN*, so she doesn't mind the idea of spending the trip with a busload of freaky anime people. She's really been looking forward to it, and I was mostly in favor.
So, of course, the tour I want to go on turns out to be a freaking *YAOI* tour. I mean, my mom tolerates my anime silliness fairly well, but there's no way in hell I would ever share *that* little corner of my fandom with her.
*sigh* I guess there's always September, 2007. :(

My book club is talking about going to the Romantic Times conference next year. Some fans of m/m stories are disappointed RT decline to have a panel on the subject, but there's some talk of having an "unofficial" discussion. But I'm really not wanting to explain slash to a group of ladies almost old enough to be my mother, or in one case, my grandmother. ;)

I could probably get my mom to wait 'til next time if I told her this was some sort of internet meetup trip and hinted that she'd be in the way.
Seriously, though - the thing that excites me about these PopJapan trips is how easy they are to plan for. They seems to fall around the same time every year, and they're always about $2500.00... expensive, but not such a ridiculously high number that it feels impossible to save up for over a year or two (or three =P)
