So, I just discovered "Twitter". Just when I think the whole social-networking thing can't get any more pointless. And yet, I'm feeling the urge to sign up. Oi vey.
I'm a bit bummed this morning. I think my home email address is starting to leak onto spammer lists. I've been doing pretty well with this one - I always get one or two every week, but nothing too intrusive. This past week, though, I've had 4-5 per day. From there it's just a hop, skip, and jump to the deluge once those lists start feeding into the general pool. *sigh*
In reviewy news: Finished Berserk and Princess Tutu recently.
Berserk is a disappointment. I had spoiled myself on the end, so I knew what (not) to expect but the thing that really sucked was how much I *loathed* all three main characters by the end of the series. Early on, I was pleasantly surprised at how engaging the warband-bonding element was despite its uber-muscled, blood-gushing, limb-severing action. I thought they were doing a great job showing Griffith as the charismatic leader who men would die for. But then...
Princess Tutu, on the other hand, is everything it's cracked up to be. Beautiful and thoughtful, with so many layers and twists to throw out on the story-within-a-story setup, and yet still being true to its shoujo target - not going so dark or "deep" that there wasn't room for lighter comedy or touches of the absurd. Usura is probably one of my favorite characters ever right now (so cute!) and Duck's friends with their sheer delight at her trials and tribulations were an absolute hoot. Definitely one for the "Reasons Why I Love Anime" pile.
