February Miscellany
Keeping up with my "resolution" for a once-a-month nattering post. Nothing particularly new or different from last month.
Still working my way through Numb3rs. Season 2 was a bit slow for me... largely because Season 2 Charlie has the same issue that I was discussing with
colls recently re: Abby on NCIS... there's a point where the naive/idealistic character's schtick just doesn't feel true anymore because after everything s/he's seen. Seasion 3 Numb3rs rectified that issue, somewhat, and delivered some really powerful episodes with a great use of the whole cast. The more I watch the show, the more I'm loving David and Colby, in particular. :)
Still mainlining all things Dick Grayson in all his incarnations. I'm in absolute love with the icon on this post because of that "Only Human" text. In addition to the father/son thing with Batman, Dick really hits my tendency to get attached to the "normal", non-super-powered member of a group who still takes on the same risks as the rest. (Also plays into the competence kink, since he totally holds his own in that situation.)
I did get caught up with Supernatural through the episode with the golem, and I'm loving the introduction of the Men of Letters and Thule society. For a while now, with all the angel/demon storylines the boys have been constantly up against enemies so ridiculously super-powered that it's not even reasonable that they manage to stay hidden, let alone stay ALIVE. I like the idea that they might be laying groundwork for a more human-based villain in the future, and I love the sense I've been getting from the season of Sam & Dean gradually building this new support network (I really hope Golem-dude will be recurring.) and having their new hideout to work from. It's the most hopeful and interesting the series has been in a loooooong time, imo.
